Otley College at Suffolk Show 2009
[04/06/2009]This year Otley College went for a touch of glamour and magic at the Suffolk Show 2009.
The main marquee - Situated at stand no 666 - was taking care of businesses in a hospitality area - serving devilish summer cocktails - whilst promoting the range of business and commercial courses currently on offer.
Also at the main stand, Otley had devised a secret magical animal kingdom for youngsters to enjoy.
All the usual freebies and giveaways were available and advisors were on hand to answer any general enquiries.
Otley was also situated at a variety of other areas throughout the showground.
In the flower tent, horticulturists built a 15-foot flower tower thanks to a project that has been sponsored by Thompson and Morgan.
Landscape and Garden Design students built a garden from scratch in a manner akin to the BBC TV show Ground Force.
Construction staff and learners could be seen at the skills area where they were competing and advising in a variety of activities including plastering, brickwork, painting & decorating.
Otley raised pigs were taking part in a variety of the livestock events.
The tree surgeons were working 50 feet up in the air, showing off their skills to the general public.
Members of Otley staff were also handing out college information on stilts.
The organiser of Suffolk Show Otley activities, Tracey Collins, said, “We were really excited about this year’s show, particularly our main marquee and the Animal Kingdom which was a great success.”
“This was the 39th consecutive year that the college has attended one of the biggest dates in Suffolk’s event calendar, in an event that always makes you feel proud to live in this wonderful part of the world.”
