College Event Dares You to Achieve

[30/04/2009]
Otley College will be ‘daring’ members of the public to do something extraordinary on Saturday 9 May 2009.

The college - based just outside Ipswich - is hosting an event called The Big Day Out.

This is the fifth anniversary of Otley’s version of a mini county show that opens at 10am and closes at 4pm.

The overall mantra of the event is entitled ‘dare to achieve.’

Visitors will have the opportunity ‘daring to achieve by coming face to face with a snake or spider, participate in a host of sporting challenges, ride a mechanical horse, build a brick wall for the first time or just come along and enjoy the fun.

The whole event will be raising money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance charity and entrance is free.

Areas on site will include a marquee of crafts and plants, a chill out zone, cakes stalls and a farmers market.

Activities booked so far include children’s laser quest, trampolines and bouncy castles; sub aqua diving, a climbing wall, golf games, face painting, remote control cars, a bungee run, a treasure hunt and a horse riding display.

Organiser of the event, Tracey Collins, said, “The Big Day Out is our landmark event of the year. We are encouraging everyone to get into the spirit of the day by ‘daring to achieve’ and most of our 400 staff members have agreed to do something daring already.”

“Last year we had well over 3000 visitors and we are hopeful for a similar turn out this year. It is also a great opportunity for the public to come and witness first hand how much the college has positively expanded over the years in what will I’m sure be a great day out for all the family.”
