College Announces New Chair of Governors
[04/12/2008]The former Chief Executive of the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce has embraced his passion for education and business and joined Otley College as the new Chair of Governors.
And one of his first duties in his new role was to pick up an award on behalf of the college, as Otley was named 'Rural Business of the Year' at the Anglian Business Awards. An event held at Trinity Park in November 2008.
Bob Feltwell - who has previously been a member of Suffolk Learning and Skills Council and a Director of Business Link - currently offers business advice to the new Ipswich Foot Clinic based at Gilmour Piper in Ipswich and at The Constable Country Medical Practice.
But it was through his work with The Museum for East Anglian Life where he first came into contact with Otley.
He said, "Through my role at the museum I became impressed by the work that was achieved between the two organisations and found out how much valuable work is achieved at the College."
The former graduate of London University is looking forward to "continuing to develop our unique rural role providing a supportive and friendly environment that continually strives to form excellent relationships with the local community."
He paid tribute to the outgoing Chair, John Clements, adding, "John Clements has led the college extremely well over the last four years and both personally and as a college, we would like to publicly thank him for his efforts. We are also delighted to be benefiting from John's knowledge and expertise as he will be continuing to support us in his role as a Governor, as well as being the Chair of our Audit Committee."
Bob Feltwell concluded by saying, "Like all of our Governors, I am committed to enhancing the student experience and helping learners of all ages gain valuable qualifications."
"We currently offer a wide variety of education and training opportunities to individuals and businesses throughout the region and I look forward to helping to expand this offer during my time as Chair of Governors."
