And one of the courses will be hoping to 'alpaca' in the students.
Run by Helen Rose from Hemley, near Woodbridge, a brand new alpaca course (starting later in the year) has been set up to help the growing number of owners learn the basics of looking after these increasingly popular animals.
She said, "Alpacas are bred for their fleece and they are ideal for a small business enterprise on limited acreage. Recently the first one million dollar alpaca was sold in the USA and they are becoming incredibly popular because of their friendly, curious and passive nature."
Other subjects that can be studied on the leisure-learning programme include golf, dog grooming, floristry, beekeeping, reflexology, engineering and web design.
Teresa Smy, from the leisure-learning department at Otley, said, "The New Year is a great opportunity to make a resolution, try something different or learn a new skill."
"So far over 4500 students have participated in our courses and our eldest student was an 85-year-old florist. But, realistically it doesn't matter if you are eight or 85 as there will be something for everyone to embrace on this new programme."
She added, "The people who run these courses have a real passion for the subjects that they teach and this is what makes these courses so special."
