Stained Glass for Beginners

This workshop offers an introduction to the craft of stained glass. Using the Tiffany (copper foiling) technique, students will learn the basic skills of cutting and grinding glass, foiling, and soldering. There will be a range of coloured glass available and students will be able to complete a small suncatcher design. All the tools and materials will be provided. Students will need to bring: cotton apron, tea towel or similar cloth, small scissors, pins, plasters. An additional fee of £5 will need to be made to the tutor at the workshop to cover the cost of materials. Lunch is not provided.

Welding - An Introduction (8 week)

This is a 8 week practical course for those wanting to learn the basic methods of MIG and MMA (manual metal arc) welding. Students will be shown how to use equipment safely and how to carry out basic welding joints to steel. Steel toe capped shoes and safety overalls must be worn for this course. Course cost reflects maximum of 8 students and includes materials. On satisfactory completion of the course, you will be awarded an Otley College Certificate of Attendance.See details...
