Aim of course
This one year four days per week course has two pathways aimed at giving students an excellent introduction into farming and wildlife conservation or fish husbandry.
What does the course involve?
Students will cover a range of subjects including: countryside industry experience, practical estate skills & machinery operations, animal and plant husbandry, this also includes field visits, practical study trips to various farms, nature reserves and wildlife locations.Course contents
The course will include a secondary qualification at Level 1.The fisheries pathway is aimed at school leavers or those interested in starting a career in fish husbandry. Subjects studied will include angling, fish farming, biology and freshwater sport fishery managment.
What qualifications do I need?
You will need two GCSEs at grade C or above, in English, Maths or Science. What equipment do I need?
For the fisheries pathway: Access to fishing equipment and tackle will be required throughout the course. Steel toe-capped boots, Overalls, Chest Waders.For the farming and wildlife pathway: Steel toe capped boots* these must be totally all leather uppers with no canvas panels and ankle high, At least 1 pair of work gloves, 1 person first Aid kit include emergency whistle, waterproof coat/jacket
What can I do after the course?
Students may progress into a career in either the countryside or agricultural industry or progress onto a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in either Agriculture or Countryside Management. Fisheries pathway students wil be able to progress onto a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Fish Management or gain employment in the industry.Who do I contact about this course?

This is a 8 week practical course for those wanting to learn the basic methods of MIG and MMA (manual metal arc) welding. Students will be shown how to use equipment safely and how to carry out basic welding joints to steel. Steel toe capped shoes and safety overalls must be worn for this course.
