Aim of course
This one-year (four days a week)course is aimed at school leavers or anyone wishing to enter arboriculture. You will gain an excellent introduction into this expanding industry.
What does the course involve?
Students will cover a range of practical subjects including: tree climbing, pruning/dismantling, tree felling, machinery operations, and tree planting. Course contents
Theory subjects will include: tree biology, pests and diseases and machinery maintenance.What qualifications do I need?
4 GCSEs grade G to D or above including English, maths or science.What equipment do I need?
You will need to bring your own chainsaw protective boots. The College can provide other personal protective equipment although we recommend purchasing your own.What can I do after the course?
Students may progress onto the BTEC National Diploma in Arboriculture, work as a tree surgeon, self-employment or working for a Local Authority.Who do I contact about this course?

This is a 8 week practical course for those wanting to learn the basic methods of MIG and MMA (manual metal arc) welding. Students will be shown how to use equipment safely and how to carry out basic welding joints to steel. Steel toe capped shoes and safety overalls must be worn for this course. Course cost reflects maximum of 8 students and includes materials. On satisfactory completion of the course, you will be awarded an Otley College Certificate of Attendance.See details...
