Bricklaying Diploma (Part-time)

Aim of course
This course is for those candidates wishing to progress into employment in bricklaying or mature students with a bricklaying bias who wish to achieve a qualification.
What will the course involve?
The course contains a mixture of theory and practical activity covering all aspects of bricklaying. The Level 2 Diploma in Trowel Occupations part-time is studied one day/week over two years.
Course Content
This course has a practical bias covering all areas of the bricklaying craft and associated subjects. Assessment is based on course work and externally set examinations. Areas of study include: mortar mixes; brick/block laying; setting out; power tools and aequipment; site organisation and safety; simple scaffolding; slinging and signalling.
What can I do afterwards?
On completion of this course you would be considered for a part-time Level 3 Diploma or NVQ 2 in Trowel Occupations. As the NVQ is assessed in the workplace, you would need to find employment with a company whose work covered all the required units of the NVQ.What do I need?
This course requires a Level 1 Diploma or 2 GCSEs at grade D or above, or equivalent.Who do I contact about this course?

This is a 8 week practical course for those wanting to learn the basic methods of MIG and MMA (manual metal arc) welding. Students will be shown how to use equipment safely and how to carry out basic welding joints to steel. Steel toe capped shoes and safety overalls must be worn for this course.
