Further Education

If you are under 19 years of age on the 31st August 2009, you will not have to pay tuition or examination fees, whether on a full or part time course (this does NOT apply to leisure learning courses). However, all students are expected to contribute to the material costs associated with their study.

If you are 19 or over on 31st August 2009, you will be expected to pay tuition, examination and materials fees unless you are:

  1. Continuing a two year course started when you were under 19 years of age on 31st August or earlier.
  2. In receipt of a means tested state benefit, e.g. Jobseeker's Allowance (Income Based), Income Support, Council Tax.
  3. You are financially dependant on someone who is in receipt of a means tested benefit.

If this is the case, you may be eligible for remission of tuition fees. You will be required to show proof that eligible benefit is being paid at the time of enrolment.
