Skills for Life - Free Courses
How does it work?
Courses run throughout the year and lead to a recognised national qualification in Maths and English. We can also incorporate IT skills within the course.
What does a typical programme consist of?
You can study English and Maths at our drop-in centre or you might like to come to one of our IT courses. These courses include IT for beginners and IT for the more advanced. All programmes include an initial assessment and an online examination at the end.
What are the costs?
All Skills for Life courses are free (fully funded by the Learning and Skills Council) to any one who has lived within the European Union (EU) for the last 3 years. Individuals who have not been resident in the EU for 3 years can also access this training, but will be required to pay for this provision.
How long will it take to complete?
The average course is two hours a week for ten weeks.
Skills for Life Levels:
Maths and English starting from entry to Level 2 (Level 2 is equivalent to a GCSE grade C and above). The government recommends that Level 2 should be the level which all employees should aim to achieve.
