Code: OCDI2F030
Level: 2, Type: Full Time

Aim of course

This course is for those candidates wishing to progress into employment or mature students with a decorative occupations bias who wish to achieve a qualification.

What will the course involve?

Assessment of both theory and practical activity is continuous, culminating in an online exam to test knowledge.

Candidates aged 16-19 yrs will also study a Level 2 NCFE qualification which researches project management and also one Functional Skill. The Functional Skill will be studied as an integral part of both the Diploma and NCFE qualifications.

Course Content

The course contains the following areas of study:

- Store materials and equipment

- Erect and dismantle working platforms

- Work efficiently

- Prepare the work area for operations

- Prepare surfaces for decorating

- Apply paint materials by brush and roller

- Apply standard wallpaper to non-complex surface areas

- Apply basic specialist paint finishes

As 16-19 yr old learners study two qualifications, attendance at college is for four days a week, mature students need only attend for two days (these days will be decided by the Course Tutor to ensure that all areas of the Diploma are covered).

What can I do afterwards?

On completion of this course you would be considered for a part-time Level 3 Diploma or NVQ 2 in Decorative Occupations. As the NVQ is only assessed in the workplace, you would need to find employment with a company whose work covered all the required units of the NVQ.

What do I need?

This course requires a Level 1 Diploma. Applicants aged 19+ may study the part-time option.

You will be asked to carry out a skills assessment to determine the support you require to be successful on this course.
