Aim of course

This course is for those candidates wishing to progress into employment in bricklaying or mature students with a bricklaying bias who wish to achieve a qualification.

What will the course involve?

The course contains a mixture of theory and practical activity covering all aspects of bricklaying.

The Level 2 Diploma in Trowel Occupations part-time is studied one day/week over two years.

Course Content

This course has a practical bias covering all areas of the bricklaying craft and associated subjects. Assessment is based on course work and externally set examinations. Areas of study include: mortar mixes; brick/block laying; setting out; power tools and aequipment; site organisation and safety; simple scaffolding; slinging and signalling.

What can I do afterwards?

On completion of this course you would be considered for a part-time Level 3 Diploma or NVQ 2 in Trowel Occupations. As the NVQ is assessed in the workplace, you would need to find employment with a company whose work covered all the required units of the NVQ.

What do I need?

This course requires a Level 1 Diploma or 2 GCSEs at grade D or above, or equivalent.
