Aim of course

This one-year (four days a week)course is aimed at school leavers or anyone wishing to enter arboriculture. You will gain an excellent introduction into this expanding industry.

What does the course involve?

Students will cover a range of practical subjects including: tree climbing, pruning/dismantling, tree felling, machinery operations, and tree planting.

Course contents

Theory subjects will include: tree biology, pests and diseases and machinery maintenance.

What qualifications do I need?

4 GCSEs grade G to D or above including English, maths or science.

What equipment do I need?

You will need to bring your own chainsaw protective boots. The College can provide other personal protective equipment although we recommend purchasing your own.

What can I do after the course?

Students may progress onto the BTEC National Diploma in Arboriculture, work as a tree surgeon, self-employment or working for a Local Authority.
