Plastering - Diploma (Level 3)

Code: OCDI3D030
Level: 3, Type: Part Time

Aim of course

The aim of the course is to prepare experienced plasterers for a supervisory role in the industry.

What will the course involve?

This course will provide in-depth tuition, building on skills learnt while studying the Level 2 Diploma or gained in industry, using a mix of practical and theory assessment. The course culminates in a written exam to test knowledge.

Course Content

Areas of study will include: solid and fibrous plastering. Rendering, skimming, screeding and decorative plasterwork form the basis of this programme.

The Solid Plastering route consists of standard solid plastering plus radius work and in-situ moulding.

The Fibrous Plastering route consists of standard fibrous plastering plus radius work and mould making.

The Level 3 Diploma Plastering is studied one day/week over one year.

What can I do afterwards?

On completion of this course you could be considered for an NVQ 3 in Plastering. As the NVQ is only assessed in the workplace, you would need to find employment with a company whose work covered all the required units of the NVQ. You would be in a position to apply for a trainee management position within the construction industry.

What do I need?

This course requires students to have a one-to-one interview with the tutor plus either Level 2 Diploma Plastering or 3 years' proven plastering experience plus GCSEs at Grade C or above in English and maths.
